We stare into a starlit sky
That opens up before us
And losing count of days gone by
As we're all reduced to only star dust
We live a life of work and play
doing mostly what is right
And bowing down to greet each day
In honor of the darkness of the night

If only I could capture and present to you the beauty of this sky
I’d lasso all the stars you see and pull them down for you
one twinkle at a time
Maybe that might set you free from all the pointless perils on your mind
But stars can be so hard to reach, so maybe it’s just best to keep, standing holding hands
And let them shine

The days go by as seasons change
Each year a little older
We watch the sky just rearrange
Your head upon my shoulder
We do the best we can I guess
To make the world go ‘round
As secrets of the soul are left
To dreams more heaven bound
