The song started when thinking of that feeling as the water creeps up to just under your shoulders and you know its time to just submerge or go mad.

Blue sky overhead and the water looks so right
I’ve been waiting far too long now for this
I’d like to jump right in, but I’m afraid to take the dive
So I stand here in the waves and reminisce
No matter how I try I never quite submerge
I stand with one foot in and one foot out
It seems like every time, I ever get the urge
I’m never all that sure what life’s about

Halfway in and halfway out I’m weighing out my odds
Just can’t begin to place my bet right now
Oh I’ll make up my mind when the scales just settle down
But for now I’ll go with natures best intent
We gotta make up time, and strike a balance now
We’ll have to make it work with what is left

Blue sky up above, makes me think of better times
Times before I nearly since forgot
Singing songs of love, in melody and rhymes
To re-assure that we are not just caught
In a struggle between then and now, ignoring natures code
And so afraid to lose what once was won
We have to choose somehow, to lighten up the load
And take the steps to re-work what’s been done.
